Insurance underwriters do “soft underwriting” checks on your legitimacy:

• They Google your company name.
• They look for a phone number, address, DOT/MC match, and any public signs you’re real and operational.
• They look for clues that you’re serious — like a business address (not just a PO box or virtual address), maybe a USDOT listing, and online presence.
